Do you ever wonder what it would take to build a successful drama/musical theatre program from the ground up? Have you ever thought you’d love to do something like this but are worried you lack the knowledge, skills or experience? If so, this session is for you! Come learn from two people who have lived it. Our program was built from the ground up starting 5 years ago, and we’re here to show you how to do the same thing! This session includes a how-to seminar, backstage look as we prep for our matinee, the show itself, and debrief. Bring a notepad/device to take notes and pictures as the day progresses and an email that we can share our Google Drive Folder with. You will come to Festival Place in Sherwood Park for a full day session which will include: 1. How our program was built over 5 years and how you can do the same 2. A step by step breakdown of how we prepared for this year’s Shrek production: a. Budgeting & Timelines b. Auditions & Casting c. Costume/Set/Prop Design & Creation d. Choreography, Character Development & Vocal Training (Don’t freak out, you don’t need experience) e. Ticket Sales f. Creating a culture of success 3. A tour of the theatre 4. A backstage look at our pre-show preparation (makeup, costumes, microphones, warm-up etc.) 5. An opportunity to watch the show from various vantage points (sound booth/lighting booth, wings (side of stage) etc. 6. After the show, you’ll have an opportunity to talk with the directors, members of the cast and crew, and parents to ask any follow up questions you may have. Our program at Lakeland Ridge School (k-9) performs one, full scale theatrical production run at Festival Place every year with over 100 students involved annually (almost one out of every 3 students in grade 6-9 involved). Our show is fully inclusive, meaning any students in grades 6-9 wishing to be involved in the program are welcome to do so. We have a wide variety of talents, abilities, and needs will always find the right fit for our students. Our goal is to provide you with a guiding framework to help you build a program such as this, or to take yours to the next level. LUNCH will be provided onsite.
