In this interactive, hands on session I will share a range of quality children's literature and non fiction texts each of which is linked to a lesson, task or activity that matches a range of outcomes from Div one Science (and Math). I will provide clear connections to the foundational skills of literacy/numeracy and to the Competencies so Kindergarten teachers you will find valuable ideas to use. I will connect current brain based research throughout the presentations to build and refine your understandings of "Ways of knowing, Knowing Ways " that engage and connect every learner to the basic skills and knowledge that are woven across the Science curriculum grade to grade. As you engage in tasks around selections of literature, you will see, hear and make connections that deepen your understanding of how literacy and numeracy can be integrated everywhere. Plan to laugh, to talk, to examine and explore ideas, to connect and reflect. Leave with ideas to implement next week.
