Many teachers today are discouraged by the inability of children to cope within the classroom. Often, children who struggle to cope display disrespectful and explosive behaviours, which are a challenge for teachers to manage. Too often these challenging behaviours are a result of exposure to violence, neglect, or loss. Teachers need to know how to manage these disruptive and challenging behaviours because these behaviours lead to attention and learning difficulties for the child and adversely impact the child’s peers, teachers, and school administrators.
