This hands-on workshop will introduce participants to a new resource from The Critical Thinking Consortium (TC2) entitled “Snapshots in Time” that features visual timeline cards focused on significant events in Canadian history. Participants will be introduced to research findings, and teaching and assessment strategies that highlight how to use visual timeline cards to teach students to think historically using the following historical thinking concepts: historical significance, continuity and change, cause and consequence, and historical evidence. This session introduces teaching and assessment strategies for improving students’ ability to think historically about Canadian history.
